Personal Training

Sometimes starting anything new is so overwhelmingly nerve-racking that it’s just easier to start up privately, one-on-one, and then work your way into a group after you’re more confident in your abilities.  Personal training can serve so many solid purposes for a CrossFit athlete.   People choose personal training for numerous reasons:

  • CORRECTING A WEAKNESS OR IMBALANCE: you want to get a little stronger on a few specific lifts – here we have a few options: you can work one-on-one with a personal trainer or you can meet with a personal trainer who can structure a program for you to do during Open Gym times and check in occasionally on loads and technique
  • REHABBING OR COMING BACK FROM AN INJURY:  perhaps you’re still on the mend from an injury or health condition that you prefer to be monitored one-on-one versus in a small group setting – we can do that!
  • FEEL TOO “OUT OF SHAPE” TO START CROSSFIT:  you feel you are seriously deconditioned, and you’d be more comfortable gaining some conditioning and strength privately – no problem
  • HIGHER LEVEL SKILL WORK:  you have a few nagging skills you want to master and you feel you’d work better one-on-one…things like handstand pushups, butterfly or kipping pull ups, the snatch…anything that requires a higher level of skill is easy to make progress on with an occasional private session scheduled strategically throughout the month
  • COMPETITORS: many who wish to “do well in the CF Open” will train weekly with a coach focused on the movements and types of WODs we see in the Open to help them prepare to do well in the Open, or even the Regionals WOD.  This would also include weightlifting competitors. Many of our coaches have advanced certifications in both Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting.
  • MENTAL TOUGHNESS:  you are a competitor and want an edge on the mental side of the sport…we have coached athletes this way where one or two of their weekly training sessions is one on one, focused on the strategy of the WOD, the mental edge and learning to develop skills to combat the fear of failure
  • HEALTH COACHING: we have been doing this for years and now it has a title!  Life gets crazy sometimes and sometimes you find you “can’t see the forest for the trees”.  Health Coaching encompasses more than just the training side of health we deal with on a daily basis. It can help you make plans to improve sleep (quantity and quality), diet, stress management, fitness…or all of the above. Health Coaching can encompass establishing accountability that after a while is not longer needed…building new lifestyle habits that stick!  Health Coaching, we believe, is the future of healthcare…the ancillary partner that will work with the physicians and physicians’ assistants to help round out the health of our community.
  • REMOTE COACHING: if you don’t live locally but just love our coaches or coaching, we can help! Thanks to email, texting and skype/video chatting, we can not only help lay out programs for but check in on your form and monitor your progress through your scores!
  • or, you simply prefer to train one-on-one…

The first thing we will do is have you come in and meet with a personal trainer, fill out some obligatory paperwork, and show you around.  We’ll want to understand your personal goals, what your exercise and health history are, and then see at what level you are at currently so we can establish a program specifically for your current fitness level and progress you at the proper pace.

If you’re a current member at Rebels, we’ll meet with you to determine your goals and the best way to achieve them.  Your goals are what’s important. We’ll help you make sure they’re S.M.A.R.T goals, and help you  pare them down so we have short term and long term goals, so in between all the work you put in, you’re celebrating successes along the way.

Expect compassion, professionalism and a 100% focus on you.  That’s what personal training should be.

Coaches providing personal training services at CrossFit Rebels will be able to help with specific goals and or weaknesses with their clients, working on imbalances, mobility, weak movements, skills and strength. In order to do this well, you need training, experience and track record with results.

Coaches who providing these personal training services at CrossFit Rebels are Head and Lead Coaches and have either have taken and passed an accredited personal training certification or are pursuing such a certification and are approved by the owners. Personal Trainers are certified through a nationally accredited personal training certification (ACSM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA, ISSA or equivalent).  In other words, you’re getting what you pay for, and it’s not “personal training” performed by an unqualified CrossFit Coach or personal trainer who didn’t have to independently test for his/her certification.

Goals are the cornerstone of any training program.  The greatest success comes when we can establish achievable, measurable and realistic goals.  Whether your goals include:IMG_3045.JPG

  • improve current fitness level
  • get stronger, more powerful
  • train for an event
  • garner support and extra accountability
  • lose body fat / improve body composition
  • gain flexibility and joint range of motion
  • improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels, or other health-related measures…

…we can help you get there not only in training and follow through, but in setting achievable goals.

The one thing you won’t find here at CrossFit Rebels is a bunch of weight machines, treadmills, and mirrors.  In fact, the only mirrors we have are over the sink and in the restrooms!  What you will find here are medicine balls, pull up bars, Olympic weightlifting stations (don’t be scared!), jump ropes, plyometric boxes, gymnastic rings, tractor tires, sledge hammers, sand bags, weighted vests, climbing ropes…all tools to get you fit, in a unique, fun atmosphere, where the training you receive will translate into your daily life.
